Cruising Into Summer
Port Colborne Downtown Cruise Nights are Back!
Muscle cars, rat rods, trucks and vans, heavy trucks and tractors and Corvettes are just some of the vehicles that will take over the streets of downtown Port Colborne from now until the end of September, says Tony Spiteri.
Now in its fourth year, Port Colborne Downtown Cruiser’s Association has its 2017 schedule set out for the next 20 weeks of Thursday nights. Last week was the first Cruise Night of the season, and the theme was Race Car Night. (excerpt courtesy of the Welland Tribune)
For car enthusiasts good weather can’t come soon enough; it means they can finally roll their babies out of storage for another season! If you have a penchant for sparkling chrome, classic cars, spectacular paint and wild wheels but dare not splash the cash, look no further than Port Colborne Downtown Cruise Nights.
Here you can dream about sitting in the driver’s seat of a vintage automobile, shifting gears or polishing paint. If Hot Rods and Muscle cars aren’t your style you may be lucky and find a Studebaker or old woody wagon that is more to your liking. With over 125 each week there is a car that will catch your eye or tug on your heart strings.
Cruise Nights take place along Clarence Street, from West Street to Elm Street, with Clarence being closed to traffic from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. Cars angle park along both sides of the street allowing owners to show off their vehicles to the public. You can speak with the owners, ask questions and even take a photo or two, so don’t forget to bring along your camera and the family for a great evening in the downtown!
All cruise nights are free to attend. Public parking available in our municipal lots and along some side streets.
